  • Munther Akroush - KIO Chairman

    Munther Akroush has more than 33 years’ diversified experience of the mechanical, petroleum, construction and energy sectors.  Following a successful commercial career, Munther spent 17 years in Natural resources Authority, his last post was Assistant Director General of Jordan’s (NRA) in Amman which lasted for 5 years. During these years, he participated in national working groups on major national projects such as "the National Agenda” and “the National Strategy for the Energy Sector."   

    A qualified Mechanical Engineer, Munther also holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Califonia Polytechnic State University 

  • Chris Nurse - Group Chief Executive

    Chris Nurse studied law at Oxford University prior to joining the London practice of accountants Price Waterhouse where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and specialised in natural resources industries.  In 1989 Chris set up his own independent consultancy practice advising clients on mining law policy and the legal and financial aspects of due diligence for investment. He has worked on a large number of major corporate restructures, regulatory reform projects, legal and privatisation studies and lent his technical expertise to strengthen legislative controls.

    He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Member of the Energy Institute.

  • Ben McKeown - Non Executive Director

    Ben Mckeown, KSL chairman, is a partner with the Sentient group, a private equity group focused on investing in the global natural resources sector.  He has spent his entire career in the natural resources sector, working in a variety of technical and commercial roles in both the mining and oil & gas industries. 

    Ben holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering) from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, London and an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.  He is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Energy Institute and Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

  • Paul Gullery - Non Executive Director

    Paul Gullery is a Senior Investment Advisor with The Sentient Group, a private equity group focused on investing in the global natural resources sector. Prior to joining Sentient in 2012, Paul spent 23 years in banking, predominantly in the project finance arena. During his career with a major European bank, he has been involved in a large number of financings in natural resources, power, infrastructure and renewables on a global basis. Paul holds a Master of Economics from the University of Constance, Germany. 

  • John Fraser - Operations Director of KIO

    John Fraser joined Karak International Oil after a successful 15-year career at Huntsman during which he was responsible for managing process and engineering teams of over 100 people, leading manufacturing activity and driving continuous improvement in plant performance.  This was followed by 5 years experience in developing new markets for co-products and commercial sales in a commodity pricing environment.  Consequently, he brings a wealth of technical knowledge and practical experience of complex industrial processes combined with sound commercial skills.

    John is a Chartered Engineer who holds an Honours degree in Chemical Engineering from Edinburgh University and an MBA from Durham University.
